Police hunt suspects following PTA petrol station robbery
Authorities say the robbers locked employees in a room before bombing a safe and making off with money.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police are searching for five suspects following a robbery at a petrol station in Pretoria.
Authorities say the robbers locked employees at the Petroport petrol station in Sinoville in a room yesterday before bombing a safe and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police also arrested a 31-year-old constable who was responding to the crime scene for allegedly stealing money which was left on a counter.
The police's Kay Makhubela says the police officer will appear in court soon.
"He [the officer] was arrested there and then and will be appearing in the Pretoria North Magistrates Court. We are still searching for the five suspects who were involved in the bombing of the drop safe in the petrol port."
