Murdered constable's family demand bail be denied for his alleged killer
Christopher Janitjies was expected to apply for bail today, but the matter has been postponed.
CAPE TOWN - Friends and family of murdered Metro Police officer Ben Koopman are demanding bail be denied for his alleged killer.
The man was expected to apply for bail today, but the matter has been postponed.
CCTV footage shows the constable was ambushed by two assailants while leaving his home in Eerste River on an afternoon in February.
Family and Friends of the Koopman family carried colourful posters reading: "Stop killing our police officers" and "No bail for the killer".
The group came to support murdered constable's wife Katrien.
Christopher Janitjies's bail application had to be postponed for a second time after his advocate had to attend to an urgent matter.
During his first appearance, the State indicated Jantjies has a criminal history and has appeared in the same court, but under a different name.
Proceedings will resume on 8 November.
