CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town will decide whether or not to further tighten regulations around water usage later this month.

Following recent deliberations, the municipality has announced it will recommend that level 3 water restrictions be implemented from next month, to mitigate the impact of the drought.

Level 2 restrictions have been in place since the beginning of the year.

The City's Priya Reddy explains: "Mayco deliberated and they decided it was a good idea, so they want to recommend to council that it's passed. The council has to sit and that will happen on 26 October. If the full council decides it should be implemented then it will be implemented."
