Tovey still critical as family remains hopeful of full recovery
The former Bafana Bafan captain was rushed to hospital on Sunday after suffering a heart attack.
JOHANNESBURG - The family of Bafana Bafana technical director Neil Tovey has described him as a fighter and says he continues to recover from a heart attack although his condition remains critical.
Tovey suffered a heart attack during a training session on Sunday.
The footballer was rushed to hospital where doctors struggled to stabilise him and were forced to resuscitate him twice.
Last year Tovey suffered a triple heart attack while playing squash.
His brother Mark Tovey says he's been recovering at an impressive pace after a near death experience on Sunday.
"We nearly lost him and that is the honest truth. Yesterday was a better day, each hour he progressed it got better and better. He still has possibly ten different drips in the body. He is still critical. We've got a long, long way to go."
