Parks Tau elected as president of international body
The former Johannesburg mayor has been elected as president of the United Cities and Local Government.
JOHANNESBURG - Former Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau has been elected as president of the United Cities and Local Government (UCLG).
UCLG, which is the equivalent of the United Nations, is the umbrella body for local government around the world and is made up of more than 1,000 cities.
The election took place at the 5th UCLG Congress World Summit of local and regional leaders - in Columbia's capital city, Bogotá, this weekend.
