CAPE TOWN - The case against a man accused of a series of rapes near the University of Cape Town (UCT) has been postponed.

Patrick Hlomane made an appearance in the Western Cape High Court today for a pre-trial hearing.

He's been charged in connection with attacks on at least three women near Rhodes Memorial since November last year.

The State and the defence were to discuss certain outstanding matters in the case but Hlomane's lawyer was not present in court.

The prosecution has indicated the defence team has not been furnished with a docket.

This will be done some time next week.

Hlomane faces charges of rape, attempted murder and kidnapping.

He will return to court in two weeks' time.
