UWC and CPUT to remain closed next week
UWC and CPUT will remain closed next week due to student protests.
Stellenbosch University will remain open amid tight security, while UCT, following a council meeting, confirmed it will resume operations on Monday.
CPUT is using the Wingfield military base to conduct academic activity.
Stellenbosch University spokesperson Martin Viljoen says security will remain on campus to ensure the academic year is completed with minimal disruptions.
"The situation on campus is being monitored and we'll try to keep the academic programme going next week as well."
CPUT spokesperson Lauren Kansley says admissions, lectures and exams have been moved to the Wingfield military base as a temporary solution.
"The main purpose of the move is to ensure that the 2016 assessment period is concluded and our applications of 2017 continue uninterrupted."
UWC will be holding a "day of dialogue" on Monday before it decides on whether to lift the suspension.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story stated UCT would be closed on Monday. This is not the case. UCT management has confirmed the campus will be open for now.
