Madikizela-Mandela’s nephew expected in court today
Zolile Madikizela is accused of stealing her designer purses as well as a plasma TV.
JOHANNESBURG - The nephew of struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela is expected to appear in the Orlando Magistrates Court this morning in connection with the theft of handbags worth R100,000.
Zolile Madikizela (31), who also works at the freedom fighter's Soweto home, is accused of stealing her designer purses as well as a plasma TV.
He appeared in court last week, where he was denied bail.
The Hawks' Ndivhuwo Mulamu says: "Zolile Madikizela was arrested last Wednesday for housebreaking and theft at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's house in Orlando, Soweto, last week. He appeared at the Orlando Magistrate Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody. It is alleged that he broke into the house and stole designer handbags worth R100,000."
Police are also investigating after an R83,000 birthday cash gift went missing from Madikizela-Mandela's home.
