[LISTEN] Has the ANC made a U-turn on the Nkandla matter?

The ANC's Parliamentary Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu says it was a ‘spectacular own goal’ to refuse to implement the Public Protector’s Nkandla report.

CAPE TOWN - African National Congress Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu said it was a spectacular own goal to refuse to implement the Public Protector's Nkandla report.

On Sunday, the Sunday Times reported that Mthembu had told ANC Members of Parliament they needed to ask why they had come to that conclusion during their Lekgotla over the weekend.

The Constitutional Court said that decision was wrong and the remedial action of the Public Protector was binding.

It's understood Mthembu told ANC MPs their decisions to back President Jacob Zuma around Nkandla were a mistake and had damaged their credibility.
