Cape learner fatally stabbed at school

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is investigating a fatal stabbing at a school in Paarl.

A grade 12 learner at Ihlumelo Senior Secondary School was stabbed to death yesterday.

It's believed the incident is gang related.

Spokesperson for the Education MEC Jessica Shelver says, "Our information at this stage is that there was a fight at the school where five learners attacked a grade 12 learner. They fatally injured him yesterday."

Shelver says the names of five learners, believed to have been involved in the attack, have been handed over to police.
