UP students gather outside gates after being denied entry

PRETORIA - Students at the University of Pretoria have started gathering outside the institution's gates after being prevented from coming on to campus.
The university announced last week that it would not resume academic activity today and would instead have engagements on free education.
Last month, the university pushed forward its spring recess period due to student protests and had hoped to resume normal lectures by this week.
Frustrated students at the university are demanding answers. They say they want to know why they are not being allowed on campus.
They came to the university today to participate in various engagements, including a meeting with faculty members and student leaders.
But students are being turned away by security officials at the gates who claim the planned gathering has been cancelled.
Inside campus a group of students calling for a general assembly have vowed to disrupt any private university meetings that take place today.
