Madikizela-Mandela's nephew due in court for house breaking
Zolile Madikizela was arrested for housebreaking after he allegedly stole his grandmother’s plasma TV.
JOHANNESBURG - Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's nephew Zolile Madikizela is expected to appear in court next week after being denied bail by the Orlando Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Madikizela was arrested for housebreaking on Wednesday after he allegedly broke into the ANC struggle stalwart's house in April stealing a plasma TV and designer bags worth more than R100,000.
The Hawks have however confirmed the 30-year-old is not linked to another incident where R83,000 cash was stolen from Madikizela-Mandela's house after her birthday.
It's understood the 80-year-old received the money as a birthday gift.
The Hawks' Ndivhuwo Mulamu says they have been investigating the case since April.
"His next court appearance will be on the 13th of October. He is charged with house breaking and theft and was remanded in custody for further investigation."
