CAPE TOWN - Western Cape metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) says the drowning victim at Rocking the Daisies was swimming with a friend at the time of the incident.

The Zimbabwean national disappeared in a dam at the music festival being held at Cloof Wine Estate yesterday morning.

EMS and a police diving unit responded to the incident near darling, suspending search operations when it became too dark to continue.

Search teams this morning managed to retrieve the man's body from the dam.

The 21-year-old was reportedly a staff member of one of the festival's suppliers.

EMS' Robert Daniels said, "A friend who was with him at the time alerted emergency services. Police and the EMS divers eventually located and retrieved his body this morning."
