Home Affairs blames destruction of its property on corrupt officials
The department says it’s working with law enforcement agencies to ensure that there’s no more violence.
JOHANNESBURG - The Home Affairs Department has blamed the destruction of property at its Marabastad office in Tshwane on corrupt officials and asylum seekers.
Recently there were disruptions at the office after Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba announced that the department will be working on a new paperless systems to curb violence.
The department says it's working with law enforcement agencies to ensure that there's no more violence in the area.
Home Affairs' Mayihlome Tshwete said: "The department is not going to succumb to any violence from any group. Government abides by the Constitution and respects the constitutional obligation of having to protect asylum seekers and refugees."
