No arrests made in Madikizela-Mandela cash theft case
Anti-apartheid veteran Winnie Madikizela-Mandela received R83,000 in cash as a birthday gift.
JOHANNESBURG - Police say they are questioning witnesses and following up on leads in their probe into the theft of R83,000 from Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's Johannesburg home.
Madikizela-Mandela discovered the money had gone missing last week.
It is understood she had temporarily kept the money in her handbag and she discovered it was missing while looking for money to buy bread.
Madikizela-Mandela received the money as a gift for her 80th birthday celebration last week.
The police's Kay Makhubela says: "We're still following the leads of the money stolen from Mama [Winnie] in Orlando West. But so far there's no arrests made yet and we're continuing with our investigation."
