Cops probe case of arson after attempt to burn building at Rhodes University
The institution says a fire was started at a basement entrance of the main administration building.
CAPE TOWN - Grahamstown police are investigating a case of arson following an attempt to allegedly set alight a building at Rhodes University.
The institution's management says a fire was started at a basement entrance of the main administration building in the early hours of this morning.
The SAPS and the Fire Department were at the scene, and a case of arson has been opened.

This has caused damage to electrical and communications lines in the section of the building.
The University condemns all forms of violence, arson and the destruction of property.

The university has also condemned violence at the campus this week and attempts to damage property.
