JOHANNESBURG - Dramatic footage shot by Rhodes University student journalism group Oppidan Press shows police confronting students at the institution, firing rubber bullets at them and dragging a protester on the ground.
Officers opened fire on a group of students with rubber bullets, claiming some of the demonstrators were armed with stones and bottles on Wednesday afternoon.
The video shows a police officer pushing a female student and repeatedly asking her "Why aren't you in class?"
At least 10 students have been arrested and taken to Grahamstown Police Station.
