JOHANNESBURG - Water has been shut down in the Randburg area after the main pipe supplying residents burst yesterday.

This led to flooding on the corner of Republic Road and Judges Avenue, which in turn created major traffic delays.

The burst pipe will be affecting residents in Linden, Kensington, Cresta and Victory Park, among other places.

Johannesburg Water's Tidimalo Chuene says their technicians have been working from the early hours of this morning to shut down the water supply so that repairs can begin.

"Since yesterday, they've been working on shutting down of supply and that they managed to od in the early hours of this morning."

Chuene also says that water tankers will be driving around affected areas to ensure that residents are not stranded.

"We've deployed water tankers around the area for some residents to also get alternative supply."

Johannesburg Water says it is not sure when the water supply will fully be restored.
