JOAHANNESBURG - Public protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela says Hlaudi Motsoeneng should not have been appointed to another senior position at the SABC while there's still an ongoing investigation into his conduct.

Madonsela stated back in 2014 that it would be wrong to appoint Motsoeneng as the Acting Chief Operating Officer of the public broadcaster because he was found to be unfit to hold that position in a permanent capacity.

Yesterday it was announced that Motsoeneng has been appointed as the broadcaster's new General Executive for Corporate Affairs and in turn he says he will now re-apply for the position of COO.

Madonsela says there are many allegations against him and the SABC board has failed to hold him accountable.

"There is this other investigation that is taking place with all sorts of accusations against him. It would be improper then to give him a position while that cloud has not been cleared."
