SABC's decision to retain Motsoeneng gets the thumbs down on Twitter
It’s been announced Hlaudi Motsoeneng will now take on the role of general executive for corporate affairs.
JOHANNESBURG - Earlier this afternoon, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) announced that Hlaudi Motsoeneng is still one of its employees and will take the position of general executive for corporate affairs.
Tweeps took to the social media platform to express their dismay at what seems like another 'escape' from the gauntlet, by the now former Chief Operations Officer.
Does #Hlaudi have dirt on the SABC board members? He keeps getting executive posts when in truth he's not fit to even run a bath.— Ben Wessels (@Ben_W__) September 27, 2016
Last week, the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed an application for leave to appeal against an earlier ruling that nullified Motsoeneng's permanent appointment to the position of COO.
Someone had better look closely at #Hlaudi's new salary. SABC needs to be reminded to drop it. & recover some of what he was paid.— Nomboniso Gasa (@nombonisogasa) September 20, 2016
The board announced that Motsoeneng may still apply to be COO, when the post is advertised.
#SABC Motsoneng: Let me tell you, I'm going to apply for that job. I can apply. Judge Davis, I like him, the way he was questioning lawyers— EWN Reporter (@ewnreporter) September 27, 2016
Motsoeneng refused to confirm claims he's been paid a massive bonus, a SABC board member, Krish Naidoo, says if he has in fact received money, then the National Treasury must intervene.
It would seem the former COO is unfazed by what anyone thinks of the controversy surrounding him and his role at the public broadcaster. He did not mince his words when communicating this.
#Hlaudi what people say about Hlaudi, I do not care. It is their business. Actually I enjoy.— Pholoho Selebano (@Pholoho) September 27, 2016
