Mantashe pleads with ANC veterans to stop bad-mouthing ruling party
Gwede Mantashe says people who have issues with ANC leaders should take it up with them individually.
Mantashe says individuals who have an issue with ANC leaders should take it up with them individually and not create public outcry around it.
Mantashe has been addressing representatives of big business during the 7th annual Big Five Investor Conference in Newlands.
He has assured representatives of big business the country is economically, politically and socially stable.
However, he added negative comments from party veterans paint a gloomy picture of South Africa that could deter foreign direct investment.
"It's nice to whip us but what you say out there has implications for the country and the ANC. If the party is about to die, which is not going to happen soon, that message goes out and resonates with society."
Mantashe says the ANC's top leadership has asked ministers not to get sucked into public spats.
He says the fact that he is not a minister, gives him leverage to address issues that cabinet ministers cannot freely speak about.
