Academic activities at NMMU will remain suspended next week

JOHANNESBURG - Academic activities at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University will remain suspended next week due to the ongoing protests over fees.
Hundreds of students handed over a memorandum to management, demanding, among other issues, that the university not consider an increase of fees for next year.
They are also calling for the current SRC to vacate, saying students have lost confidence in the council.
SRC president Nicholas Nyati says, "That demand (for the SRC to be removed) is politically influenced and there are also some other stakeholders who are funding it but I don't want to comment on that for now."
