Police search for clues after Cape girl's body found

CAPE TOWN - Police are investigating the murder of a 17-year-old girl in Cape Town.

The teen's body was found on Monday morning in Lavender Hill.

The police's Frederick van Wyk says no arrests have yet been made.

"The circumstances around her death are being investigated after her body was discovered in Lavender Hill yesterday morning. We have reason to believe that she was shot and killed during the early hours of yesterday morning."

During a separate incident last week, the mutilated body of an 18-year-old woman was found in a field in Valhalla Park.

Nineteen-year-old Cameron Wilson was arrested in connection with Lekita Moore's murder. The case has been postponed to next month for a formal bail application.
