Pathologists comb scene of deadly Daveyton shooting

One person was killed and four others wounded in an apparent robbery on the N12 Highway near Daveyton.

JOHANNESBURG - A team of forensic pathologists is currently on the scene of the N12 Highway near Daveyton, where one person was killed and four others wounded in an apparent robbery.

It's understood a gang opened fire on a minibus taxi carrying dozens of passengers through the East Rand this morning.

The taxi was en route to Johannesburg from Mozambique.

The N12 Highway between eTwatwa and Daveyton off ramp remains closed following the shooting.

Forensic pathologists are combing the scene for clues from the minibus taxi which is riddled with bullets holes.

Fingerprints are also being lifted from both the inside and the outside of the vehicle.

Lump sums of money can be seen lying near the victim who succumbed to a gunshot wound.

It is unclear when the highway will be reopened and motorists are being redirected.
