CAPE TOWN - Three people have died on Western Cape roads this past weekend.

Provincial traffic officials also arrested 22 drunken drivers.

Western Cape Traffic's Jacques Mostert says fines totalling R226,000 have been issued.

"The highest speed recorded on a provincial road was 172 km/h in a 120 km/h zone near Brackenfell. We want to urge motorists to always wear their safety belts, maintain a safe following distance and always look out for pedestrians."
