[LISTEN] Nxasana told Zuma to fire Jiba & Mrwebi

Former NPA head Mxolisi Nxasana says he finds it disappointing that the Presidency and Justice Department failed to act when he first raised his concerns.

JOHANNESBURG - Former NPA head Mxolisi Nxasana says while he feels vindicated by the decision to strike deputy prosecutions head Nomgcobo Jiba off the roll of advocates.

He says that he finds it disappointing that the Presidency and Justice Department failed to act when he first raised his concerns.

The High Court in Pretoria yesterday struck Jiba from the roll of advocates along with Specialised Commercial Crimes Court head Lawrence Mrwebi.

During his time as NPA head, Nxasana had made a plea to President Jacob Zuma for Jiba and Mrwebi to be suspended for misconduct.

The pair were found to have gone to extreme lengths to protect former crime intelligence head Richard Mdluli from prosecution on charges of fraud and corruption.
