JOHANNESBURG - Police say three men have been killed in an overnight incident of suspected mob justice in Kagiso on the West Rand.

The men were apparently attacked by members of the Vlakfontein community after they knocked on the door of the wrong shack - and its owner shouted for help.

The police's Solomon Sibiya said, "The shack owner screamed for help saying there were people trying to rob him and message reached the community so fast that they heeded the call and attacked the deceased."

It's believed the victims were all brothers and had been searching for the fiancé of one of the men.

Officers were called to the scene after the attack and found their bodies at three different locations.

Police have urged community members with any information on how the men died to come forward.
