City of CT issues warning to residents ahead of stormy weather
A cold front is heading towards the Cape, bringing with it strong winds, rain and possibly even snow.
CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says its disaster risk teams are on high alert after warnings of severe weather conditions.
A cold front it's heading towards the Cape, bringing with it strong winds, rain and possibly even a dusting of snow.
Forecaster Henning Grobler says, "Friday seems like cold and wet days are ahead of us in Cape Town, with showers on and off through most parts on Friday.
"It will start to clear up by Friday evening into Saturday morning with still few drops available. Then by Saturday afternoon it will start clearing up quite nicely."
Meanwhile, the City's JP Smith says emergency teams have been placed on standby.
"We're anticipating quite heavy storm conditions in the Peninsula tonight, about 50mm of rain, so we ask people to please be careful and be alert.
"They must look at storm water that it doesn't block their drainage systems or tree brunches."
