CAPE TOWN - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has been discharged from hospital after a three-week stay.

The Arch admitted himself to the Cape Town hospital for treatment for a recurring infection.

In a statement by the Tutu family, the Arch's wife, Leah Tutu, expressed her joy at having her husband home.

Tutu says she will be doing everything in her power to nurse the Arch back to full health.

Last week the Arch underwent a minor operation to treat the cause of the recurring infection that has been plaguing him since last year.
