Nearly 400 govt officials bust for graft, says Hawks head

CAPE TOWN - Hawks head Berning Ntlemeza has revealed that nearly 400 government officials have been convicted of corruption since 2014.
Ntlemeza, along with South African Revenue Services Commissioner Tom Moyane are briefing Members of Parliament this morning on their progress in the war on government graft.
Ntlemeza told MPs 399 government officials have been arrested and convicted over the past two years.
In total, corruption cases probed by the anti-corruption task team amount to more than R10 billion.
Most tender fraud matters involve officials from the Public Works, Health, Education, and Rural Development Departments.
He added a further 601 officials still need to be convicted in order to achieve the unit's 2019 target.
