JOHANNESBURG - South African Olympian Sunette Viljoen has tweeted a conversation between her partner and Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula.

The conversation is about the Minister's promise of an additional financial bonus for the javelin star who won silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics Games.

Viljoen posted a screenshot of a text message exchange between her partner LiMari Louw and Minister Mbalula.

Louw asks the Minister when the R70,000 Viljoen was promised as a reward for her result at the Games would be paid.

Mbalula responds by saying he was not sure, perhaps in December next year.

Louw then asks whether that was a joke.

The Minister has not been available for comment, while Viljoen has since deleted the tweet.

The olympian has previously taken to social media to question the promise and payment of bonuses by South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee and the Minister.
