28 taxis impounded in Diepsloot
Community members protested against taxi violence this morning after 6 people were killed in clashes.
JOHANNESBURG - Minibus taxis in Diesploot are not operating this morning due to a protest by community members who are unhappy over taxi violence in the area.
Police say since last week, two rival taxi associations have been fighting and six people have been killed in clashes.
At the same time, Gauteng traffic spokesperson Bosaphi Nxumalo says 28 taxis have been impounded this morning, while police continue to monitor the area.
"The violence started last week and people were killed. I think the community is [frightened] because of the taxi conflict happening in the area."
