CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department has had to step in at yet another school where learners have protested against hair policies.

Department officials met with the management team at Fairbairn College in Cape Town yesterday as well as learner representatives.

This comes after some learners complained to the department about rules relating to hairstyles.

Learners are seeking an apology from the principal and deputy principal who they claim have humiliated some girls over their natural hairstyles.

The department's Millicent Merton said, "Senior district management met with the school management team and an agreement was reached that communication needed to be improved."

The department has sent a circular to schools across the province asking them to review their codes of conduct to ensure it's in line with the Constitution.
