JOHANNESBURG - Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas says he and Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan are currently meeting with the new board of South African Airways (SAA) and that they are telling the board it cannot be business as usual.

Last week cabinet appointed a new board to SAA amid speculation that President Jacob Zuma and Gordhan have clashed over whether Dudu Myeni should stay on in the post.

Jonas says they will not focus on the fact that Myeni has been reappointed as the chairperson of SAA, but will look at the airline's new board as a collective.

Jonas says they've told the board the airline needs to change.
