Pikitup dismisses Amanda Nair with immediate effect
Nair was placed on special leave pending an investigation into allegations of corruption against her.
JOHANNESBURG - Pikitup has confirmed that Managing Director Amanda Nair has been dismissed with immediate effect following a decision by the board.
Earlier this year Nair had been placed on special leave pending an investigation into allegations of corruption against her.
Municipal workers union, the South African Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu), has said it was ready to give testimony against Nair and had submitted a dossier containing evidence of corrupt activities that she was allegedly involved in.
Pikitup's Jacky Mashapu says the board has decided to dismiss Nair as the investigation process against her could take several months.
"I can confirm that Ms Amanda Nair has been released from her duties with immediate effect. This was a decision taken by the board in consultation with the previous administration and current administration in the interest of all the key stakeholders, particularly the shareholder, employees and residents of Johannesburg."
