George man held for drain cleaner attack on boy (12)
The 40-year-old suspect faces a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
CAPE TOWN - A George man is expected to apply for bail next week after he was arrested for allegedly throwing drain cleaner in a 12-year-old neighbour's face.
The accused appeared in the George Magistrates Court yesterday, where the case was postponed until next Thursday.
The boy sustained several injuries during the attack last weekend in New Dawn Park.
He was taken to hospital and was discharged on the same day.
The police's Malcolm Poje says the accused, a 40-year-old man, was apprehended shortly after the incident and faces a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
"The child sustained injuries to his face, body and arms. Apparently there was a confrontation between the suspect and the boy, but information also indicates that he was intoxicated."
