MK chief to look into journo manhandling claims at Luthuli House
Several journalists were allegedly intimidated by members of the MKMVA outside Luthuli House.
JOHANNESBURG - Head of the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association Kebby Maphatsoe says he will look into allegations that some their members manhandled journalists outside Luthuli House yesterday, saying it could be a situation where they were not briefed properly.
Yesterday, several journalists were intimidated by members of the MKMVA, who had also tried to stop the African National Congress (ANC)'s Secretary General Gwede Mantashe from receiving a memorandum from the #OccupyLuthuliHouse supporters.
Maphatsoe says he will look into the matter.
"I didn't see that to be honest, but if something like that happened we really want to apologise to the journalists. We'll see who those comrades are.
"The commander control was there, maybe some of the comrades were not briefed properly, but if there something like that happen we want to apologise because that's not the way we treat journalists."
