Mamelodi road barricaded in land protest
A group of people started protesting after they were removed from land they occupied illegally.
JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed that a group of people have blocked the main entrance to Mamelodi with burning tyres demanding they not be removed from land they occupied illegally.
It's understood the people occupied a piece of land close to the Eerste Fabrike Train Station in Mamelodi east a few days ago.

Police say the City moved in to remove the group earlier today sparking protests.
The police's captain Alick Maheso says, "The main route has just been barricaded but there are other roads which they can use. Police are there monitoring the situation. It's only the main road that has been disturbed where there are stones."
