The demonstrators called for the immediate resignation of Jacob Zuma as president of the country and for the ANC national executive committee (NEC)to step down.

They Occupy Luthuli House protesters says NEC has failed to hold the party's president to account.

Nkabinde says Lamola should have taken up his grievances with the leadership of the ANC at branch level.

"There are structures they can follow organisationally; if Lamola belongs to a branch he must have taken his issues to a branch. If he belongs to a certain region, he must have taken his issues he must have taken those issues to a region, the province and then they come to the national structure. You don't just wake up and march against the ANC and claim to be a member of the ANC."
