Katlehong residents torch fire truck in JHB

JOHANNESBURG - An Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services fire engine has been torched by residents in the Moleleki section of Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.
The incident took place in the early hour of this morning when fire crew were responding to a shack fire in the area.
Emergency services spokesperson William Tladi says prior to their arrival, members of the public confronted the crew with stones, breaking all the windows, forcing them to abandon the vehicle.
"One of the community members drove the fire engine to a certain distance before torching it. Our firefighters were not injured in that incident; however, we can confirm that they are terrified."
No arrests have been made.
