DA: Reappointment of Myeni undermines good governance of SOEs
Yesterday government confirmed that Dudu Myeni would return to her position as SAA board chairperson.
JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane will on Monday announce his party's intention to take action against the reappointment of Dudu Myeni as the chairperson of the South African Airways (SAA) board.
Yesterday, government confirmed that Myeni would return to her position, along with a new board.
The SAA board chair will serve another one year term, while the other 11 board members have been appointed on three year agreements.
There has been widespread condemnation of Myeni, who has been blamed of running the national airline's financial woes and apparently acting with impunity because of her alleged links with President Jacob Zuma.
DA spokesperson Mabine Seabe says Myeni's reappointment undermines good governance at state owned entities.
"We as the DA are appalled that Dudu Myeni would be reappointed as chairperson of the SAA board given that during her tenure as board chairperson previously, she has turned SAA into nothing more than a money sucking leech." LISTEN:'Dudu Myeni knows absolutely nothing about airlines'
