NFP poll exclusion probe: 2 suspended for refusing to cooperate
Last month, the National Freedom Party was excluded from contesting the polls.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Freedom Party (NFP) has suspended two of its Members of Parliament (MPs), Maliyakhe Shelembe and Sicelo Mabika, for refusing to cooperate with investigators probing the party's failure to pay its election fees.
Last month, the NFP was excluded from contesting the polls after not paying the necessary amount for registration.
The party is also investigating allegations of sabotage against its treasurer general Xolani Ndlovu, who claims he forgot to make the payment.
MP Munzoor Shak Emam says, "Forensic investigators have come into Cape Town to do an investigation, but two of our members, Shelembe and Mabika, refused to allow them access and refused to cooperate with them. Also, they instructed staff members not to cooperate with them."
