18 Western Cape Paralympians depart for Rio

CAPE TOWN - Eighteen Western Cape Paralympians have left Cape Town for Rio.
Athletes from the province make up 40 percent of the team.
A cheerful crowd gathered at the entrance of the Cape Town International Airport to wish their favourite athletes goodbye.
Provincial MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais says she's proud that the bulk of the South African team comes from the Western Cape.
"It is so wonderful to be here and to see off our team. We are very proud of them because they excelled above their circumstances. We know that they will bring back the gold."
The 2016 Paralympics Games is scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro from 7 to 18 September.
