JOHANNESBURG - Former Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau has launched a scathing attack on the city's new leader Herman Mashaba, calling him a sexist and anti-black individual, leading an anti-transformation coalition government.

Tau was speaking at the funeral service of ANC councillor Nonhlanhla Mthembu who collapsed, and died at the city's inaugural council meeting last week, where he was replaced as the city's mayor.

The former mayor says Mashaba has no respect for women.

"The City of Johannesburg is today led by a man who believes that the women who are senior executives prostituted themselves to be in the jobs they are in."

He says the coalition government the new mayor leads will reverse the gains that his administration worked hard to achieve.

"He has views that programmes such as black economic empowerment and affirmative action must be reversed."

The former mayor says the people leading the city don't represent transformation and that even their views are anti-transformation.
