Inchanga funerals: KZN cops to intensify police presence
KZN police will deploy more officers ahead of the funeral services of two people killed in political violence.
JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal police say they will be deploying more officers to Inchanga ahead of the funeral services of two people killed in political violence.
A joint memorial service for ANC supporter Xolani Ngcobo and local SACP secretary Nontsikelelo Blose was postponed this week due to continued tensions.
Blose was gunned down last Sunday while Ngcobo was shot and stoned the following day.
It's believed the violence was fuelled by factions between the two organisations.
The police's Thulani Zwane said, "We will deploy more officers to the Inchaga area during the funeral and the police will be monitoring the funeral. We appeal to people attending the funeral to please behave themselves."
Since October last year there have been 24 politically motivated killings across the country.
