Cogta satisfied with governments formed in hung metros

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) says it's satisfied with the governments that have been formed in hung metros and says its focus now will turn to training mayors and councillors.
After the declaration of elections, metros had 14 days to hold their first meetings and elect speakers, mayors African National Congress chief whips.
The department says now that this process has been completed in all the metros, the training for mayors and councillors by the South African Local Government Association, will begin.
Spokesperson Legadima Leso says they are happy with the progress in metros.
"To ensure that for councillors there is induction or capacity building provided for them. This will assist them as they enter this new environment."
