Delft teen becomes latest gang violence victim

A 17-year-old boy who was shot & wounded in the area last night has reportedly died.

CAPE TOWN - Delft community policing forum have confirmed a 17-year-old boy who was shot and wounded in the area last night has died.



This brings the number of people who have been shot and killed over the past two days up to seven.

It's believed most of the shootings are gang-related.

In the latest incident which occurred last night, two people were killed and two teenagers shot, one of the youths died in hospital this morning.

A 15-year-old is still in a critical condition in hospital.

Delft CPF caretaker chairperson, Reginald Maart, says at least 24 people have been shot and killed in the area this month.

"The community is very disturbed and we as the CPF are very disturbed about the flare of murders in the area. Most of the murders are gang related."

Maart says two men, believed to be connected to the shootings, have been taken into police custody.
