North and south clashes in CAF Champions League semis
Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Zambian outfit Zesco United in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
Four clubs from four different nations on the continent are in the semi-final line-up of the CAF Champions League.
A lot is at stake for the winners, besides the obvious pride of being the premier team in Africa there is also US$1.5 million in prize money up for grabs and the sport to represent the continent at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.
South African league champions Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Zambian outfit Zesco United. The all-Southern Africa clash will be another test for Zesco who have surpassed expectations to reach this stage of the competition, beating out the likes of Al Ahly, ASCE Mimosa in the group stages along the way.
For the Egyptians, it is the first time since 2005 that they have reached this stage of the competition, whilst Wydad last went this far in 2011, so there it is all to play for the two clubs.
The first legs will take place on the weekend of 16-18 September and the return on 23-25 September.
