Cop in stable condition after Spur shootout

CAPE TOWN - A police officer who was wounded in a shootout in Durbanville on Monday is in a stable condition.

He was shot while responding to an armed robbery at a Spur.

Three armed men stormed the restaurant yesterday and held up a staff member.

Spur manager John Peace said the gunmen forced a female employee into the an office "threatened her with a firearm".

"They took all her personal possessions, including her jewellery, handbag, cellphone and car keys."

The woman opened the back entrance of the restaurant for a delivery, when the men forced their way in and robbed her.

A suspect was also wounded during the incident.
