JOHANNESBURG - The family of a woman whose body was found in the boot of a burning car in Krugersdorp says the man arrested in connection with her murder is her boyfriend and the father of their two-year-old son.

Ayanda Zwane's body was found in the vehicle on the R28 on Saturday morning.

Her family believes the man killed her at their home in Mabopane, Pretoria, and travelled with her in the boot of her car to Krugersdorp on the West Rand, where he set the car alight.

While police remain mum on the details surrounding this case, Captain Kay Makhubele only confirmed the man arrested is Zwane's boyfriend.

"We found that the boyfriend might be a suspect and he has now been arrested."

Zwane's family says she was living with the man in Mabopane and was supposed to spend the weekend with her mother in Kagiso.

But her aunt Zama Zwane says a short while after arriving in Kagiso on Friday, the 35-year-old left her mother's house and drove back to Mabopane after hearing the man had another woman in their home.

She said that was the last time the family heard anything from her.

The man is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court today.
